- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
- Marinade:
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce

- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup beef broth or water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water (slurry)
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- Optional Garnishes:
- Chopped green onions
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- Marinate the Beef:
- Combine the beef slices with soy sauce and black pepper in a bowl. Let marinate for at least 10 minutes to enhance flavor and tenderize the meat.
- Prepare the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, beef broth, and cornstarch slurry. Stir well and set aside.
- Cook the Beef:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a hot wok or skillet. Stir-fry the beef in small batches for 1-2 minutes until just browned. Remove and set aside.
- Caramelize the Onions:
- Add the remaining oil to the wok. Cook the onions over medium heat until softened and slightly golden, about 5 minutes.
- Add Aromatics:
- Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Combine and Simmer:
- Return the beef to the wok. Pour the prepared sauce over the mixture. Stir and cook until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and onions, about 2-3 minutes.
- Finish with Sesame Oil:
- Drizzle sesame oil over the stir-fry, mix, and remove from heat.
- Serve:
- Serve hot over steamed jasmine rice or noodles. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
