- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1/4 teaspoon sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and ground ginger.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook for 3–5 minutes, breaking it apart as it browns. Drain any excess fat.
- Pour the prepared soy sauce mixture into the skillet with the beef and add the green onions. Simmer for about 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Serve the beef over steamed rice, garnished with sesame seeds and additional green onions if desired.
