- 4 eggs
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare Puff Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut it into four equal squares.
- Assemble the Layers: Place a slice of ham and a slice of Gruyère cheese on each puff pastry square.
- Shape the Pastry: Fold the edges of the puff pastry inward to create a border around the fillings, leaving the center open for the egg.
- Bake Initial Layer: Brush the edges with melted butter and bake the squares on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 10 minutes or until the pastry is golden.
- Add the Egg: Remove the pastry from the oven, crack an egg into the center of each square, and season with salt and pepper.
- Finish Baking: Return to the oven and bake for another 10-12 minutes, or until the egg whites are set but the yolks remain runny.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.
